Uses: The Anchor Bend is also known as the Fisherman's Bend (ABOK # 1841, p 309). It is an excellent knot to use for attaching an anchor line to an anchor.
Comparison: It is very similar to the Round Turn and Two Half Hitches, so similar that it is doubtful if there is much benefit in using one knot over the other. If either knot were being used to secure an anchor line to an anchor, most people would add an extra one or two half hitches. Many would also seize the bitter end to the standing end for additional security. |
